  mankind has had a pretty good track record of tackling the problems of life on earth.

  different folks have tried different strokes.

  you might say that life has been the crucible for testing an idea as to efficacy and the legacy of any idea is how well it worked.. .

  A bit of honesty seems lacking in any camp which pretends to KNOW what reality is, whether they call themselves rationalists, logical or mystical, the problem is that we have ONLY experiences and beliefs about them, neither of which are directly linked to reality by necessity. while the rationalist non-mystics argue that reality must be related to the world we experience they have nothing but experiences and belief to go on any more than those who experience other apparent planes of existance or alternate levels of reality....who are just as convinced of the reality of those experienced realms....

  when either of them represent their belief and faiths as facts they are lying... it does not matter that the non-mystic can point to his evidence and say it must be so.... just because he is either ignorant of other possibilities or cannot believe he can be wrong.

  the term brain washing often seems to mean forcing a person to alter his perceptions of reality against his will....

  for all but the born into it variety of JWs, this is not the case, most come to be involved with JWs because they find a commonality they do not find with others, they do not give into forced cooercion but voluntarily give up their ability to think for themselves out of a trust they gradually develope with the WTBS.... its more like a hypotist and his subject than a brainwasher and his victim.

  the methods for keeping people under the spell may be cooercive, but that were put under by their own consent.

  numbers 31 causes me to get angry...not so much because it shows Moses to be a War Criminal, by ordering the murder of defenseless women and children, but because believers can rationalize and justify it so easily as if these people were not people at all, just trash that Israel had the right to burn because god said so.-- I find it funny how these same believer can fight so hard against abortion of the unborn and yet not care one bit about the murder of the already alive. see also Deut 21

  The Number One Reason Why I Am Not a "Watchtower Apologist"

  a number of people of late have noticed the concilliatory stance i take towards the jehovah's witnesses -- both as individuals and even as an organization.

  they have quite rightly pointed out that i appear to "defend" the organization and it's members from attacks that i feel are unwarranted or unnecessary.

  too often, i feel, this forum becomes a gripe session in which mighty ex-jw throngs feel the need to paint the organization or individual jws as totally devoid of any good qualities whatsoever.

  for JWs and ex-JWs this board is much like music on the radio... we gravitate to what our current mood desires...

  if we are angry we tune in on the angry posters or become one ourselfs and if we are happy we find those who are also

  happy or share what we are happy about.... there is a lot of anger, frustration and sadness on this board, but also joy and happiness and encouragement and lust for freedom etc.... our emotions tend to cause a tunnel vision effect which often prevents us from seeing the overal as we lock on to what our emotions are pointing to.

  telling people to be happy when they are angry and sad usually has the opposite effect.... complaining about people being too angry or sad generally does not make them any happier either.... however giving them something to be happy about and rejoice in, often gets them to put their anger and sadness aside for a bit and on rare occasions even gets them to see things differently and end their anger and sadness.

  Cross or a Stake - which was it?

  we were always lead to believe, when we belonged to the jws, that jesus died on a "stake".

  was this really true or did he die on a cross as all other religions appear to believe.

  if it was a cross, what on earth did the jws get out of saying otherwise.

  from what I have seen on history channel and discovery of late, most modern scholars and historians are saying

  it was neither a cross nor a stake but the T and the top peices was the only part carried by the criminals.

  Here is how it works: when you make a claim that something IS....then you provide the proof to back it up. Those who say they can bend spoons with their mind have to prove it. Those who claim they were kidnapped by aliens have to prove it. Those who claim a certain test has any validity in order to refute a point made in debate have to prove it.

  by your own definition, you are the one making the positive statements here and have not backed them up...which was the reason I questioned them.... as far as I could see from your statements of apparent fact that you KNEW something and need to defend that claim to knowledge no the other way round (^_^)

  btw, your site shows various valid criticisms, but nothing related to the only use I made of it...namely to show that after many years, a retaking of the test shows no difference in my underlying core personality, even though I had made many changes in my life
